SUBJECT: Difficult Oil Leak Diagnosis Caused By Oil Seepage Past The Engine Oil Filter Adapter Plate Gasket

OVERVIEW:

This bulletin involves the replacement of the engine oil filter adapter plate gasket.

NOTE: THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 3.9L OR 5.2L ENGINE. ENGINES BUILT BY THE MOUND ROAD ENGINE PLANT FROM FEB. 18, 1999 (JULIAN DATE OF 0499) TO MAR. 26, 1999 (JULIAN DATE OF 0859) MAY BE EFFECTED.

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

A condition may exist where oil seepage past the oil filter adapter plate gasket may result in an incorrect or difficult oil leak diagnosis. The oil seepage could possibly be misdiagnosed as a rear main oil seal leak, an engine pan gasket oil leak, an intake manifold rear seal oil leak, or an oil filter gasket oil leak.

This bulletin involves installing revised front brake caliper adapters and new front disc pads.

2004 (CS) Pacifica

NOTE: THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH ALL WHEEL DRIVE AND BUILT ON OR BEFORE JUNE 9, 2003 (MDH 0609XX).

 

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

A vehicle, after an extended soak (usually more than 8 hours) at ambient temperatures below 7.2C (45F), may exhibit a front brake squeak or squeal like sound when driving in reverse at slow speeds and with light brake application.

Rough Idle and/or MIL Illumination For Any Of The Following DTC's: P0300 / P0301 / P0302 / P0303 / P0304 / P0315 / P0335 and/or P0606.

OVERVIEW:

This bulletin involves replacing the terminals in the Crankshaft Sensor (CKP) connector. Some vehicles were built with incorrect (oversize) terminals that may cause an intermittent connection at the (CKP) sensor. Vehicles that exhibit a rough idle and/or any of the above listed DTC's and are built in the suspect build range will require that all (CKP) connector terminals be replaced.

2008 (JS41) Sebring/Avenger
2008 (JS27) Sebring Convertible

NOTE: This bulletin applies to models equipped with a 2.0L or 2.4L engine (sales codes ECN, ED3 or EDG) built from November 12, 2007 through December 8, 2007 (MDH 1112XX through 1208XX).

 

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Some customers may experience a rough idle and MIL illumination. Further investigation by the technician may find any of the following DTC's:

  • P0300 - Multiple Cylinder Misfire
  • P0301 - Cylinder 1 Misfire
  • P0302 - Cylinder 2 Misfire
  • P0303 - Cylinder 3 Misfire
  • P0304 - Cylinder 4 Misfire
  • P0315 - No Crank Sensor Learned
  • P0335 - Crankshaft Position Sensor Circuit
  • P0606 - Internal ECM Processor

Driving a vehicle with an underinflated tire may result in tire failure and increase the risk of a crash.

 

Summary

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2017 Fiat 500X vehicles. When the vehicle has a tire with low tire pressure, the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) warning light may not illuminate.

As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 138, "Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems."

The front driveshaft bolts may loosen and allow the front driveshaft to disconnect, potentially causing a loss of motive power.
