NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles within the following markets/countries: LATAM/BRAZIL ONLY.

NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or before June 23, 2015 (MDH 0623XX).

 

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

A small number of customers may experience poor air conditioning performance when the interior temperatures of the vehicle are above 60°C (140°F).

This bulletin involves reprogramming the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with the latest available software.

NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with a 3.6L engine (Sales Code ERB).

 

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Customers may experience a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination. Upon further investigation the technician may find that the following DTCs have been set:

 

In addition, the following software enhancements are available:

  • Elimination of (disable) low idle 550 rpm to mitigate rough idle complaints (base idle fully warm maintained at 648 rpm).
  • Software to address customer’s concern of extended crank times when starting engine.
  • Software to enable the clearing of erroneous DTC U0140 loss of communication with the Body Control Module (BCM).
  • New software to enable the “Transmission Quick Learn” feature.

Side Air Bag may Deploy Improperly

In the event of a vehicle crash, if a SABIC does not inflate as intended, there is an increased risk of injury to the rear seat occupant.

 

Summary

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Ram 1500 Quad Cab trucks manufactured August 26, 2013, to August 8, 2015. The affected vehicles are equipped with side air bag inflatable curtains (SABIC) that may not fully overlap the C-pillars in the event of a vehicle crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 226, "Ejection Mitigation."
