Creaking/Squeaking Sound From Brake Pedal During Actuation

 

OVERVIEW:

This bulletin involves lubricating the brake pedal return spring.

 

MODELS:

2004 (CS) Pacifica

 

NOTE:Thisbulletin appliestovehicles builtonorbefore March28, 2003(MDH 0328XX).

 

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

The vehicle operator may describe a creaking/squeaking sound from the brake pedal when applying the brakes during normal light to moderate braking.

 

DIAGNOSIS:

If the vehicle exhibits the Symptom/Condition, inspect the brake pedal return spring for presence of grease. If grease is not present or if the spring is not fully covered with grease, perform the Repair Procedure.

REPAIRPROCEDURE:

  1. Access the brake pedal return spring.
  2. Apply approximately 5 to 8 grams (1/8 to 1/4 oz.), of p/n 05083149AA or 05083150AA Wheel Bearing/Multi-Purpose Grease to the spring and spread evenly around the entire spring.
  3. Actuate the brake pedal 5-10 times to assist the grease in penetrating within the spring coils.

Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty.
