Summary
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2023 Dodge
Durango Pursuit vehicles equipped with an instrument panel mounted shifter. The shifter may experience an interference with the shifter boot and come out of gear while driving, which can result in a sudden loss of drive power.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the instrument panel mounted shifter boot, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 7, 2023. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC’s number for this recall is 94A.

New Safety Recall Advanced Communication – 94A
FCA US LLC (FCA US) has announced a safety recall on certain 2023 Model Year (WD) Dodge Durango Pursuit vehicles equipped with an IP Mounted Electric Shifter (sales code XE2).
REASON FOR THIS SAFETY RECALL
Some of the above vehicles may have been built with shifter assemblies that may experience an interference with the shifter boot when placed in the drive position.
A shifter with a shifter boot interference may not be able to maintain the drive position. A shifter that is not fully seated in the drive position may unexpectedly lose motive power, which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.
SERVICE ACTION
FCA US will conduct a voluntary safety recall on all affected vehicles to replace the IP mounted shifter boot. The remedy for this condition is not currently available. Dealers will be notified of the launch of this safety recall by way of established communication methods. This recall is estimated to launch in 4th Quarter of 2023.
Chronology :
- On June 26, 2023, the FCA US LLC (“FCA US”) Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance (“TSRC”) organization opened an investigation into 2023 MY Dodge
Durango Pursuit vehicles built with an IP mounted shifter that have a high durometer shifter boot that impedes fully seating in the shifter’s drive detent.
- From June 2023, through August 2023, FCA US TSRC conducted an analysis of loss of motive power patterns and vehicle history and determined that the affected vehicles were equipped with an IP mounted shifter and determined that the shifter boot was the origin of the loss of motive power.
- As of September 5, 2023, FCA US is aware of zero customer assistance records, two warranty claims, and zero field reports potentially related to this issue for all markets with dates of receipt ranging from May 15, 2023, through June 15, 2023.
- As of September 5, 2023, FCA US is not aware of any accidents or injuries potentially related to this issue for all markets.
- On September 11, 2023, FCA US determined, through the Vehicle Regulations Committee, to conduct a voluntary safety recall of the affected vehicles.

VINs identified as being involved in this campaign are currently live and searchable. Stop sale is in effect for the above-identified vehicles. Vehicles impacted by a stop sale are eligible for reimbursement allowance through the Recall Floorplan Reimbursement Policy (RFPRP), which can be requested upon recall claim submission. REASON FOR THIS SAFETY RECALL Some of the above vehicles may have been built with shifter assemblies that may experience an interference with the shifter boot when placed in the drive position. A shifter with a shifter boot interference may not be able to maintain the drive position.
