Summary
Blanchat Mfg., Inc. (Blanchat) is recalling one 2018 B-27 Minuteman vehicle built on a RAM
5500 chassis and equipped with Whelen brake lights recalled under 18E-063. Depending on the specific wiring of the vehicle, these brake lights may illuminate when the brake pedal has not been pressed.
Remedy
Blanchat has notified the owner, and will replace the brake lights, free of charge. The recall began March 27, 2019. Owners may contact Blanchat customer service at 1-620-896-7145.

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Highway Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. \Vhelen Engineering Co., Inc. has detected a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety in brake lights manufactured from November 1, 2017 to May 16, 2018. Your vehicle is included in this range.
What is the concern?
The brake light may activate if there is transient voltage on the brake input line (e.g., without further brake input), but can be retumed to nonnal operation when a brake input is applied and then removed. \Vhelen detennined that the root cause of this condition was tied to transient voltage on the input line creating a false and steady activation of the brake light. The condition is dependent on the specific wiring of the vehicle and other installed equipment. The product fimctions nonnally if it is not exposed to these specific conditions.
What should you do?
With the vehicle running and all lights activated examine your 3rd brake light which is installed on the rear of the apparatus directly above the hose reel and below the directional light bar. If the brake light activates without the brake pedal being pushed, contact Blanchat Mfg., Inc. and we will ship you a replacement.
