Summary
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2020 Alfa Romeo
Giulia vehicles. These vehicles may be equipped with tires that have a lesser load rating than intended for the vehicle. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, “Tire Selection and Rims.”
Remedy
Dealers will replace the tires, and update the owner’s manual with the correct load rating, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 21, 2021. Owners may contact FCA US LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US LLC’s number for this recall is Y83.

New Safety Recall Advanced Communication – Y83
FCA US LLC (FCA US) has announced a safety recall on certain 2020 Model Year (GA) Alfa Romeo Giulia vehicles.
REASON FOR THIS SAFETY RECALL
Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (“FMVSS”) No. 110 S4.2.1.1 requires that, “The vehicle maximum load on the tire is not to be greater than the applicable maximum load rating as marked on the sidewall of the tire.” Subject vehicles are equipped with tires that do not meet the required load rating. A driver may rely on the incorrect load index and may overload the vehicle, which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. The condition described above does not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 110 – Tire selection and rims.
SERVICE ACTION
FCA US will conduct a voluntary safety recall to replace the incorrect tires with tires that meet the required load index and update the Owner’s Manual with the correct load index values. The remedy for this condition is not currently available. Dealers will be notified of the launch of this safety recall by way of established communication methods. This recall is estimated to launch in 4th Quarter of 2021.

Subject
The tires on about 180 of the above vehicles do not meet the required load rating. A driver may rely on the incorrect load index and may overload the vehicle, which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.
The condition above fails to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 110, “TIRE SELECTION AND RIMS”.

A. Inspection
- Yes: Proceed with the Service Procedure to replace the tires.
- No: If the customer has already replaced the 225/40-R19 89W Bridgestone tires with some other type of tire, verify that the new tires installed by the owner meet load index 93.
- If the new tires do not have the proper load index, consult with the owner, and replace the tires.
- If the new tires do have the proper load index, consult with the owner to determine if they still have the original Bridgestone tires in their possession and would like to exchange them for 225/40-19 (93V) XL Pirelli Cinturato P7 A/S Runflat Tires.
B. Tire Replacement
- Remove, replace and balance all four tires.
- Drill holes larger than 1/4 inch in the sidewall of the old tires once replacement is complete.

- On October 20, 2021, FCA Italy SpA (“FCA Italy”) Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance recognized a tire issue existed on certain vehicles and the tire load index may not be sufficient, potentially not in compliance with FMVSS No. 110.
- On October 26, 2021, FCA Italy determined, through the Vehicle Regulations Committee, to conduct a voluntary safety recall of the affected vehicles.

11/09/2021 New Safety Recall Advanced Communication – Y83 FCA US LLC (FCA US) has announced a safety recall on certain 2020 Model Year (GA) Alfa Romeo Giulia vehicles. VINs identified as being involved in this campaign are currently live and searchable. Stop sale is in effect for the above-identified vehicles. Vehicles impacted by a stop sale are eligible for reimbursement allowance through the Recall Floorplan Reimbursement Policy (RFPRP), which can be requested upon recall claim submission. REASON FOR THIS SAFETY RECALL Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (“FMVSS”) No. 110 S4.2.1.1 requires that, “The vehicle maximum load on the tire is not to be greater than the applicable maximum load rating as marked on the sidewall of the tire.” Subject vehicles are equipped with tires that do not meet the required load rating. A driver may rely on the incorrect load index and may overload the vehicle, which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. The condition described above does not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 110 – Tire selection and rims. SERVICE ACTION FCA US will conduct a voluntary safety recall to replace the incorrect tires with tires that meet the required load index and update the Owner’s Manual with the correct load index values. The remedy for this condition is not currently available. Dealers will be notified of the launch of this safety recall by way of established communication methods. This recall is estimated to launch in 4th Quarter of 2021. We ask that you please take the time to ensure that your personnel are aware of this communication and are prepared to execute a customer friendly process for inquiries regarding involved vehicles.
