New Safety Recall Advanced Communication – Y82
FCA US LLC (FCA US) has announced an equipment safety recall on certain Mopar Occupant Restraint Controllers (ORC).
REASON FOR THIS SAFETY RECALL
Customers may have purchased an ORC module that may have the incorrect software. The airbag warning indicator may not illuminate to notify the operator of possible compromised airbag system functionality. If specific ORC internal faults are active, then a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) will not be set and the airbag warning indicator may not illuminate. The internal faults will disable deployment of both the driver and passenger airbag squib and knee airbags. Reduced occupant protection in the event of a crash may result in an increased risk of injury to motor vehicle occupants.
SERVICE ACTION
FCA US will conduct a voluntary safety recall on all affected parts to repurchase suspect ORC modules. Dealers will be notified of the launch of this safety recall by way of established communication methods. This recall is estimated to launch in 4th Quarter of 2021.

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
FCA has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain Mopar Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) Module Part Number: 68518544AE 68518543AE, 68518542AF, 68476781AB, 68425814AE, 68425813AB.
It is extremely important to take steps now to repair your vehicle to ensure the safety of you and your passengers.
WHY DOES MY ITEM OF EQUIPMENT NEED REPAIRS?
FCA US records indicate that you may have purchased an Mopar ORC module for your vehicle. Some of the ORC modules may have incorrect software. The airbag warning indicator may not illuminate to notify the operator of possible compromised airbag system functionality. HOW DO I RESOLVE THIS IMPORTANT SAFETY ISSUE?
FCA US is conducting a voluntary equipment safety recall on all affected parts to repurchase suspect ORC modules. Be sure to bring the ORC module(s) with this letter to your dealership. We recommend that you schedule a service appointment to minimize your inconvenience.
