Chrysler
(FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2020 Jeep
Grand Cherokee, and 2014-2019 Ram
1500 vehicles equipped with 3.0L diesel engines. A high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) failure may introduce internal debris into the fuel system, potentially resulting in fuel starvation.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the HPFP, and inspect and replace, if necessary, additional fuel system components, free of charge. Interim notification letters informing owners of the safety risk were mailed July 21, 2022. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed for RAM
1500 owners on December 14, 2023 and January 11, 2024 for Jeep
Grand Cherokee owners. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLS’s number for this recall is Z46.

FCA US LLC (FCA US) has announced a safety recall on certain 2014-2019 (DS) Ram
1500 Pickup and 2014-2020 (WK) Jeep
® Grand Cherokee vehicles equipped with a 3.0L diesel engine.
REASON FOR THIS SAFETY RECALL
Some of the above vehicles equipped may have been built with a high pressure fuel pump (“HPFP”) that could fail prematurely. A HPFP failure may introduce internally failed component debris into the fuel system potentially causing fuel starvation.
Fuel starvation may result in an unexpected loss of motive power, which can cause a vehicle to crash without prior warning.
SERVICE ACTION
FCA US will conduct a voluntary safety recall on all affected vehicles to replace the HPFP, and inspect and, if necessary, replace additional fuel system components. The remedy for this condition is not currently available. Dealers will be notified of the launch of this safety recall by way of established communication methods. This recall is estimated to launch in 1st Quarter of 2023.
Chronology :
- On February 9, 2022, the FCA US LLC (“FCA US”) Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance (“TSRC”) organization opened an investigation into 2014-2020 MY Jeep
Grand Cherokee, and 2014-2019 MY Ram
1500 Classic vehicles for potential premature high pressure fuel pump failures in vehicles equipped with the 3.0L diesel engine which may result in a stall. - From February 2022, through May 2022, FCA US TSRC conducted an analysis of stall patterns and vehicle history, determined that the affected vehicles were equipped with the Bosch CP4.2 high pressure fuel pump, and determined that the high pressure fuel pump was the origin of the stalls.
- As of May 18, 2022, FCA US is aware of 215 customer assistance records, 1,061 warranty claims, and three field reports potentially related to this issue for all markets with dates of receipt ranging from March 14, 2014 to January 14, 2022.
- As of May 18, 2022, FCA US is aware of zero accidents and zero injuries potentially related to this issue for all markets.
- On June 2, 2022, FCA US determined, through the Vehicle Regulations Committee, to conduct a voluntary safety recall of the affected vehicles.
