The suspect period began on February 22, 2023, when suspect fuel lines were introduced in vehicle production, and ended on March 8, 2023, when suspect fuel lines were no longer used in production. Vehicle production and supplier records were used to determine the suspect period. Similar vehicles not included in this recall were built before or after the suspect period, or were built without the suspect fuel line. Involved Components : Component Name 1 : FUEL AND BRAKE TUBE Component Description : BUNDLE Component Part Number : 52029570AJ Supplier Identification : Component Manufacturer Name : Cooper Standard Automotive Inc Address : 40300 Traditions Drive Northville Michigan 48168 Country : United States Chronology : • On March 28, 2023, the FCA US LLC (“FCA US”) Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance (“TSRC”) organization opened an investigation into 2023 MY Chrysler Pacifica PHEVs that were built with an improperly extruded fuel line. • From March 2023, through June 2023, FCA US TSRC conducted an analysis of fuel line leaks, vehicle histories, and reviewed supplier data. • As of July 5, 2023, FCA US has identified zero customer assistance records, two warranty claims, and zero field reports potentially related to this issue for all markets with dates of receipt ranging from April 25, 2023, through June 2, 2023. • As of July 5, 2023, FCA US is not aware of any accidents or injuries potentially related to this issue for all markets. • On July 14, 2023, FCA US determined, through the Vehicle Regulations Committee, to conduct a voluntary safety recall of the affected vehicles. Part 573 Safety Recall Report 23V-500 Page 3 The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : FCA US will conduct a voluntary safety recall on all affected vehicles to inspect and, if necessary, replace the suspect fuel line. FCA US has a longstanding policy and practice of reimbursing owners who have incurred the cost of repairing a problem that subsequently becomes the subject of a field action. To ensure consistency, FCA US, as part of the owner letter, will request that customers send the original receipt and/or other adequate proof of payment to the company for confirmation of the expense. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : The remedy is to inspect and, if necessary, replace with a properly extruded fuel line. 07/27/2023 _____________________________________________________________________ New Safety Recall Advanced Communication – 77A FCA US LLC (FCA US) has announced a safety recall on certain 2023 Model Year (RU) Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs). VINs identified as being involved in this campaign are currently live and searchable. Stop sale is in effect for the above-identified vehicles. Vehicles impacted by a stop sale are eligible for reimbursement allowance through the Recall Floorplan Reimbursement Policy (RFPRP), which can be requested upon recall claim submission. REASON FOR THIS SAFETY RECALL Some of the above vehicles may have an improperly extruded fuel line which could lead to uncontained fuel in the engine compartment. Operators may observe a spill / drip or fuel odor. Uncontained fuel in the presence of a competent ignition source can result in a vehicle fire which increases the risk of injury to occupants and persons outside the vehicle, as well as property damage. SERVICE ACTION FCA US will conduct a voluntary safety recall on all affected vehicles to inspect and, if necessary, replace the suspect fuel line. The remedy for this condition is not currently available. Dealers will be notified of the launch of this safety recall by way of established communication methods. This recall is estimated to launch in 3rd Quarter of 2023. We ask that you please take the time to ensure that your personnel are aware of this communication and are prepared to execute a customer friendly process for inquiries regarding involved vehicles.
