Incorrect Front Caliper Slide Pins
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves inspecting the front caliper slide pins and if necessary replacing the slide pins.

NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles within the following markets/countries: APAC, EMEA and LATAM.
NOTE: This bulletin applies to JK vehicles built on or after September 28, 2015 (MDH 0928XX) and on or before October 17, 2015 (MDH 1017XX) equipped with anti-lock 4-wheel disc HD brakes (Sales Codes BR6).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may describe rattle in front brakes.
DIAGNOSIS:
If a customer’s VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the repair. For all other customers that describe the symptom/condition, perform the Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove the front tire and wheel assemblies.
- Check caliper slide pins to determine if caliper slide pins need replacement (Fig. 1). Caliper slide pins without notches on hexagonal surface need replacement. Repeat check on opposite side of vehicle.

- Do caliper slide pins have notches?
- YES>>> This bulletin has been completed, use LOP (05-81-20-91) to close theactive RRT.
- NO>>> Proceed to Step #5 and replace both front caliper slide pins on each side of vehicle.
- Remove the caliper slide pins (1) and discard. (Fig. 2).

- Secure brake caliper to nearby suspension part with wire. Do not allow brake hose to support caliper weight.
NOTE: Caliper slide pins should be free from debris and lightly lubricated with 0.35g minimum of grease, mineral based compatable with EPDM rubber, per caliper slide pin.
- Install the new caliper slide pins (2) to the caliper adapter (Fig. 3).
CAUTION: Verify brake hose is not twisted or kinked
- Install caliper on the caliper adapter. Tighten bolts (3) to 35 N·m (26 ft. lbs) while securing pin head (2). Tighten leading bolt first, followed by trailing (Fig. 3).
NOTE: Gently lift one end of the caliper slide pin boot (1) to equalize air pressure, then release the boot and verify that the boot is fully covering the caliper slide pin (2).

- Install wheel and tire assemblies. Refer to 22 – Tires and Wheels/Wheels/Standard Procedure.
- Remove supports and lower vehicle.
- Apply and release brake pedal 3 times ensure that caliper is seated correctly.
