This bulletin involves replacing the liftgate Fiat emblem.

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

The customer may describe the liftgate Fiat emblem is loose.

 

DIAGNOSIS:

If the customer describes the symptom/condition listed above, perform the Repair Procedure.

SPECIAL TOOLS/EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:

C-4755

Trim Stick

 

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Mask around the Fiat emblem to prevent damage to the liftgate paint surface (Fig. 1).
2. Using a non-metallic trim stick or equivalent (2), remove the Fiat emblem (1) (Fig. 1).

3. Remove any residual adhesive foam tape pieces from the liftgate surface (Fig. 2).

4. Using a non-metallic trim stick or equivalent (2), remove and discard the emblem fasteners (1) (Fig. 3).

5. Clean the liftgate emblem application surface using isopropyl alcohol (Fig. 4).

6. Install the new emblem fasteners into the liftgate emblem holes (Fig. 5).

NOTE: Only if the original emblem was lost, perform Step #7. Otherwise reuse the existing emblem and proceed to Step #8.

7. Remove the adhesive tape liner from the back of the new Fiat emblem (Fig. 6).

8. Apply beads of 3M™ emblem adhesive to the mounting tape surface of the Fiat emblem. Apply only an appropriate amount of adhesive in order to prevent adhesive squeeze out beyond the emblem outer edge (Fig. 7).

9. Align the Fiat emblem to the emblem fasteners and install the emblem to the liftgate.
10. Apply finger pressure to the emblem for at least 10 seconds to ensure proper adhesion of the emblem to the liftgate (Fig. 8).

11. Remove the protective masking material from the liftgate (Fig. 9).
