Squeak Noise Coming From Rear Cargo Area
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves installing rivets to the left and right rear quarter trim panel support brackets.
MODELS:
Renegade**

NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles:
- **BU vehicles built on or before May 30, 2015 (MDH 0530XX).**
- B1 vehicles built on or before June 28, 2015 (MDH 0628XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Some customers may describe a squeak noise coming from rear cargo area. Noise is most noticeable while driving over rough roads and during vehicle turns.
DIAGNOSIS:
If the customer describes the symptom/condition listed above, perform the Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
- Remove the left and right tail lamps (1) (Fig. 1). Refer to the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT> TechCONNECT under: Service Info> 08 Electrical> 8L – Lamps and Lighting> Lamps/Lighting – Exterior> Lamp, Tail> Removal and Installation.
- Remove the left and right rear quarter trim panels (2) (Fig. 1).

- Measure, mark and center punch new hole locations (1) approximately 22 mm (.86 in.) from the previous rivets as shown in (Fig. 2). Perform this step for both the left and right rear quarter trim panel support brackets.

- Using a drill and a 5 mm drill bit, drill 2 new holes (1) through each support bracket and tail lamp bucket at the previously marked locations (Fig. 3). Perform this step for both the left and right rear quarter trim panel support brackets.
- Remove all burrs from the holes (1) and clean away any metal shavings from vehicle interior and from the tail lamp bucket (Fig. 3). Perform this step for both the left and right rear quarter trim panel support brackets.
- **Apply a corrosion-prevent or primer (3M Single Step Primer) or equivalent over holes (1) (Fig. 3). Allow the primer to dry for approximately 10 minutes at a temperature of 60-70°C (140°-158°F).**

- Using a suitable rivet installation tool, secure the four steel rivets (1) into the four drilled holes (Fig. 4).

- Using polyurethane adhesive sealant or Mopar weather strip adhesive, completely cover and seal the rivets on both sides (inside the vehicle and inside the tail lamp bucket) in order to fully encapsulate the rivets to protect against water infiltration (Fig. 5).

- Install the left and right tail lamps (1) (Fig. 6). Refer to the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT> TechCONNECT under: Service Info> 08 – Electrical> 8L – Lamps and Lighting> Lamps/Lighting – Exterior> Lamp, Tail> Removal and Installation.
- Install the left and right rear quarter trim panels (2) (Fig. 6).
