Sputter Type Noise Emitted From Exhaust
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves inspecting and replacing the resonator if required.
MODELS:

NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or before October 14, 2014 (MDH 1014XX) equipped with 2.4L I4 Multiair Engine (sales code ED6 or ED8) or 3.2L V6 24V VVT Engine (sales code EHB).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may notice a sputter type noise coming from under the vehicle.
DIAGNOSIS:
If the customer describes the symptom/condition above, perform the Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
- Inspect the resonator for drain holes, see (Fig. 1).

1 – Drain holes are located on both ends of the resonator.
- Does the resonator have drain holes?
- Yes >>> Proceed to Step #3.
- No >>> This bulletin doesn’t apply. Normal diagnostics should be performed.
- Replace the resonator, refer to the procedures available in DealerConnect> TechConnect> Service Info> 11 – Exhaust System Resonator, Exhaust/Removal/Installation.
POLICY:
Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty.
