Chrysler
(FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2024 Jeep
Grand Cherokee vehicles. An improperly machined steering knuckle may separate between the ball joint and knuckle, causing the wheel to fall outward and resulting in a loss of control.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the steering knuckle, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed April 12, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA’s number for this recall is 07B.

New Safety Recall Advanced Communication – 07B
FCA US LLC (FCA US) has announced a safety recall on certain 2023 and 2024 model year (WL) Jeep
Grand Cherokee vehicles.
REASON FOR THIS SAFETY RECALL
Some of the above vehicles may have been built with a steering knuckle that is improperly machined. A steering knuckle without finished machining can cause a ball joint to not be seated correctly and the ball joint nut to not be fully torqued which can cause ball joint to knuckle separation. A ball joint separating from the knuckle results in the wheel falling outboard, which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.
SERVICE ACTION
FCA US will conduct a voluntary safety recall to replace the steering knuckle. The remedy for this condition is not currently available. Dealers will be notified of the launch of this safety recall by way of established communication methods. This recall is estimated to launch in 2nd Quarter of 2024.
Chronology :
- On January 12, 2024, the FCA US LLC (“FCA US”) Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance (“TSRC”) organization opened an investigation into some 2024 MY Jeep
Grand Cherokee vehicles potentially built with a suspect steering knuckle with incomplete finish machining. - During January 2024, FCA US TSRC conducted an analysis of loss of steering patterns and vehicle history and determined that the affected vehicles were equipped with suspect steering knuckles.
- As of January 31, 2024, FCA US is not aware of any customer assistance records, warranty claims or field reports potentially related to this issue for all markets.
- As of January 31, 2024, FCA US is not aware of any accidents or injuries potentially related to this issue for all markets.
- On February 15, 2024, FCA US determined, through the Vehicle Regulations Committee, to conduct a voluntary safety recall of the affected vehicles.

FCA US has a longstanding policy and practice of reimbursing owners who have incurred the cost of repairing a problem that subsequently becomes the subject of a field action. To ensure consistency, FCA US, as part of the owner letter, will request that customers send the original receipt and/or other adequate proof of payment to the company for confirmation of the expense.
Remedy will be to replace the improperly machined steering knuckle with a properly machined steering knuckle.

Grand Cherokee vehicles.
VINs identified as being involved in this campaign are currently live and searchable. Stop sale is in effect for the above-identified vehicles.
Vehicles impacted by a stop sale are eligible for reimbursement allowance through the Recall Floorplan Reimbursement Policy (RFPRP), which can be requested upon recall claim submission.
