Summary
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Dodge Hornet and Alfa Romeo Tonale vehicles. The maximum vehicle capacity weight value on the tire placard label is incorrect. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, “Tire Selection and Rims.”
Remedy
Dealers will add an overlay label to the tire placard information, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed April 24, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA’s number for this recall is 28B.

New Safety Recall Advanced Communication – 28B
FCA US LLC (FCA US) has announced a safety recall on certain 2023 and 2024 Model Year (GG) Dodge Hornet and (GC) Alfa Romeo Tonale vehicles.
REASON FOR THIS SAFETY RECALL
Some of the above vehicles may have been built with a non-compliant tire placard that does not correctly define the maximum Vehicle Capacity Weight (VCW) value. A driver may rely on the incorrect VCW and overload the vehicle, which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.
FMVSS 571.110 (S4.3) – Placard, requires that “each vehicle shall show…(a) vehicle capacity weight expressed as “the combined weight of occupants and cargo should never exceed XXX kilograms or XXX pounds.””
SERVICE ACTION
FCA US will conduct a voluntary safety recall to add an overlay label to the tire placard information. The remedy for this condition is not currently available. Dealers will be notified of the launch of this safety recall by way of established communication methods. This recall is estimated to launch in 2nd Quarter of 2024.
Chronology :
- On January 30, 2024, FCA US LLC (“FCA US”) Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance (“TSRC”) organization was notified of a potential issue on certain vehicles related to the VCW on the tire label, potentially not in compliance with FMVSS No. 110.
- From February 7, 2024, through February 23, 2024, Stellantis Europe S.p.A. Customer Experience (“CX”) reviewed production data and assembly plant records and determined that affected vehicles may have been built with an incorrect VCW value which may not be in compliance with FMVSS No. 110.
- On February 23, 2024, the Stellantis Europe S.p.A. organization recognized a non-compliance issue existed on certain vehicles related to the tire placard values being incorrect, potentially resulting in a noncompliance with FMVSS No. 110.
- On February 27, 2024, Stellantis Europe S.p.A determined, through the Vehicle Regulations Committee, to conduct a voluntary safety recall of the affected vehicles.

To ensure consistency, FCA US, as part of the owner letter, will request that customers send the original receipt and/or other adequate proof of payment to the company for confirmation of the expense.

New Safety Recall Advanced Communication – 28B
FCA US LLC (FCA US) has announced a safety recall on certain 2023 and 2024 Model Year (GG) Dodge Hornet and (GC) Alfa Romeo Tonale vehicles.
VINs identified as being involved in this campaign are currently live and searchable. Stop sale is in effect for the above-identified vehicles.
Vehicles impacted by a stop sale are eligible for reimbursement allowance through the Recall Floorplan Reimbursement Policy (RFPRP), which can be requested upon recall claim submission.
