Descriptive Information : Some 2016 MY Jeep Wrangler Right Hand Drive (“RHD”) vehicles may have been built with clockspring design that can allow dust/debris to enter the mechanism and may experience a clockspring failure. The suspect period began on May 3, 2016, when vehicles may have been produced with suspect parts, through September 16, 2016, when vehicle production stopped for the 2016 MY Jeep Wrangler RHD. The vehicle population was determined using vehicle production records. Similar vehicles were included in FCA US LLC (“FCA US”) Recall ID S40 (NHTSA Recall ID 16V-288). • On February 26, 2024, the FCA US Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance (“TSRC”) organization opened an investigation into some 2016 Jeep Wrangler RHD vehicles built with clock springs that potentially allow dust/debris to enter the mechanism that were not included in FCA US Recall ID S40 (NHTSA Recall ID
16V-288). • During calendar year 2017 through 2021 FCA US conducted an analysis on returned parts after repair for Warranty Extension X68. • Between June of 2022 and Dec 2023 FCA US and NHTSA engaged in multiple meetings to review field part return data and customer complaints made to both NHTSA and FCA US. • As of February 29, 2024, FCA US is aware of 21 customer assistance records, 0 warranty claims, and 0 field reports potentially relating to this issue for all markets with dates of receipt ranging from May 24, 2018, through January 19, 2024. • As of February 29, 2024, FCA US is not aware of any accidents or injuries potentially related to this issue for all markets. • On March 07, 2024, FCA US determined, through the Vehicle Regulations Committee, to conduct a voluntary The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 Part 573 Safety Recall Report 24V-196

Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : FCA US will conduct a voluntary safety recall on all affected vehicles to
replace the clockspring, steering wheel back cover, and steering column shrouds. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production :
FCA US has a longstanding policy and practice of reimbursing owners who have incurred the cost of repairing a problem that subsequently becomes the subject of a field action. To ensure consistency, FCA US, as part of the owner letter, will request that customers send the original receipt and/or other adequate proof of payment to the company for confirmation of the expense.
The defective component is the clockspring which is supplied by BCS Automotive Interface Solutions. The remedy components are redesigned clocksprings with larger shrouds, covers, and gaskets.
