Center Console Lid Binding
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves adding a rubber bumper to the console lid to prevent the lid from binding.

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
**This bulletin will help prevent a binding or an audible clicking noise in the center console lid.
NOTE: Do not attempt to fix a center console lid that has an existing binding or audible condition by adding the bumper.**
DIAGNOSIS:
If a customer’s VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the repair. For all other customers that describe the symptom/condition listed above, replace the console lid under normal warranty process and procedures.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
- Locate the center console inside the vehicle.
- Slowly open the upper lid of the center console while checking the gap between the bottom of the upper lid and the top of the lower lid for rubbing together as shown in (Fig. 1).
- Check the rear of the upper lid hinge for binding or an audible clicking as shown in (Fig. 2).
- Repeat Step #2 three times by fully opening and closing the upper lid until completely latched.
- Does the center console upper lid indicate binding, hesitation or an audible clicking at the rear of the lid to the lower console?
- YES >>> This bulletin does not apply. Use the Inspection LOP (23-14-15-92) to close the active RRT. Replace the console armrest in accordance with Service Information under normal warranty process and procedures.
- NO >>> Continue with the Repair Procedure in Step #6.
- Move either the driver or passenger seat all the way forward in the vehicle.
- If equipped, open a rear door.
- Using trim stick tool C-4755, remove the rear panel from the back of the console as shown in (Fig. 3).
- Using the bumper kit, remove the tail as shown in (Fig. 4).
- At the rear of the center console wall on the lower lid, identify the two notches as shown in (Fig. 5).

- At the center of the console wall on the lower lid (as noted in the previous step), insert the bumper where the red triangle is shown. It will take some effort to push the bumper in flush with the edge of the lower lid as shown in (Fig. 6) and (Fig. 7).

- To assist the installation of the bumper, press the back wall of the lower lid to relieve some tension while inserting the bumper as shown in (Fig. 8).

- Reinstall the rear panel. Confirm the panel is fully seated and all clips are engaged.
- Confirm the repair by slowly opening the upper lid of the center console while moving the upper lid side to side/back and forth check the rear of the upper lid hinge for binding, hesitation or an audible clicking.
