Summary
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain Mopar High Pressure Fuel Pump part numbers: 68211268AA, 68211269AA and Mopar 3.0L Diesel Engine part numbers: 05158019AK, 05158036AF, 05158048AC, 05158048AD, 05158048AE, 05158048AF, 05158052AD, 05158052AF, 05158052AG, 05162072AD, 05162072AE. A high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) failure may introduce internal debris into the fuel system, potentially resulting in fuel starvation.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the HPFP, inspect and replace, if necessary, additional fuel system components, free of charge. An interim owner notification letter informing owners of the safety risk was mailed July 21, 2022. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 11, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLS’s number for this recall is Z58.

REASON FOR THIS SAFETY RECALL
Some high pressure fuel pumps (“HPFPs”) may wear prematurely and could fail internally. A high pressure fuel pump failure may introduce internally failed component debris into the fuel system potentially causing fuel starvation if installed into a vehicle.
Fuel starvation may result in an unexpected loss of motive power, which can cause vehicle crash without prior warning if installed into a vehicle.
SERVICE ACTION
FCA US will conduct a voluntary safety recall on all affected parts to repurchase suspect HPFPs and uninstalled engines. For installed engines, FCA US will replace the HPFP, and inspect and, if necessary, replace additional fuel system components. The remedy for this condition is not currently available. Dealers will be notified of the launch of this safety recall by way of established communication methods. This recall is estimated to launch in 1st Quarter of 2023.
Chronology :
- On February 9, 2022, the FCA US LLC (“FCA US”) Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance (“TSRC”) organization opened an investigation into 2014-2020 MY Jeep Grand Cherokee, and 2014-2019 MY Ram 1500 Classic vehicles for potential premature high pressure fuel pump failures in vehicles equipped with the 3.0L diesel engine which may result in a stall.
- From February 2022, through May 2022, FCA US TSRC conducted an analysis of stall patterns and vehicle history, determined that the affected vehicles were equipped with the Bosch CP4.2 high pressure fuel pump, and determined that the high pressure fuel pump was the origin of the stalls.
- As of May 18, 2022, FCA US is aware of 215 customer assistance records, 1,061 warranty claims, and three field reports potentially related to this issue for all markets with dates of receipt ranging from March 14, 2014 to January 14, 2022.
- As of May 18, 2022, FCA US is aware of zero accidents and zero injuries potentially related to this issue for all markets.
- On June 2, 2022, FCA US determined, through the Vehicle Regulations Committee, to conduct a voluntary safety recall of the affected units.

Vehicle occupants may notice a Malfunction Indicator Lamp illuminating, a fuel leak, abnormal engine noise, or a change in drive quality. Fuel starvation may result in an unexpected loss of motive power, which can increase the risk of a vehicle crash without prior warning.

The remedy for this condition is not currently available. We are making every effort to finalize the remedy as quickly as possible, and will service your vehicle free of charge (parts and labor) when the remedy is available.

Chronology :
• On February 9, 2022, the FCA US LLC (“FCA US”) Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance (“TSRC”)
organization opened an investigation into 2014-2020 MY Jeep Grand Cherokee, and 2014-2019 MY Ram 1500
Classic vehicles for potential premature high pressure fuel pump failures in vehicles equipped with the 3.0L
diesel engine which may result in a stall.
• From February 2022, through May 2022, FCA US TSRC conducted an analysis of stall patterns and vehicle
history, determined that the affected vehicles were equipped with the Bosch CP4.2 high pressure fuel pump,
and determined that the high pressure fuel pump was the origin of the stalls.
• As of May 18, 2022, FCA US is aware of 215 customer assistance records, 1,061 warranty claims, and three
field reports potentially related to this issue for all markets with dates of receipt ranging from March 14, 2014
to January 14, 2022.
• As of May 18, 2022, FCA US is aware of zero accidents and zero injuries potentially related to this issue for all
markets.
• On June 2, 2022, FCA US determined, through the Vehicle Regulations Committee, to conduct a voluntary
safety recall of the affected units.
Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : FCA US will conduct a voluntary safety recall on all affected parts to
repurchase suspect HPFPs and uninstalled engines. For installed engines,
FCA US will replace the HPFP, and inspect and, if necessary, replace
additional fuel system components.
FCA US has a longstanding policy and practice of reimbursing owners who
have incurred the cost of repairing a problem that subsequently becomes
the subject of a field action. To ensure consistency, FCA US, as part of the
owner letter, will request that customers send the original receipt and/or
other adequate proof of payment to the company for confirmation of the
expense.
How Remedy Component Differs
