FCA US LLC (FCA US) has announced an equipment safety recall on certain Mopar Tire
Pressure Monitor System (TPMS) sensor part numbers: 68487472AA and 68488757AA Dealers may have purchased TPMS sensors intended for the following vehicles:
2022 (LA) Dodge Challenger
2022 (LD) Dodge Charger
2022 (LX) Chrysler 300 REASON FOR THIS SAFETY RECALL
Customers may have purchased the above TPMS sensor PN that may prematurely discharge its battery, making the TPMS sensor inoperative. If the TPMS light illuminates because the battery in the sensor prematurely discharges, it could mask an actual low tire pressure condition, possibly resulting in tire failure, which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. The condition described above does not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 571.138 states that “…each vehicle must be equipped with a tire pressure monitor system” that detects “when one or more of a vehicles tire is significantly under-inflated and illuminates a low tire pressure warning telltale.” The tire pressure system in the suspect vehicles may not detect low tire pressure.
FCA US will conduct a voluntary safety recall on all affected parts to inspect and replace the
suspect TPMS sensors as needed, if installed on a vehicle, or exchange any parts not yet installed on a vehicle. All dealers are required to return all affected purchased TPMS in order be repurchased.

Descriptive Information : Some tire pressure monitor system (“TPMS”) sensors may prematurely discharge their battery, making the TPMS sensor inoperative.
Supplier shipment information and sales records were used to identify the suspect period which began on January 19, 2022, when sensors with prematurely discharging batteries were first shipped from the supplier, and ended on June 9, 2022, when the suspect TPMS sensors were no longer manufactured.
Similar TPMS sensors not included in the recall were built after the suspect period, or were built with batteries that do not prematurely discharge.

• On May 13, 2022, the FCA US LLC (“FCA US”) Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance (“TSRC”) organization was notified of a potential issue related to TPMS sensors with a battery prematurely discharging in some 2022 MY Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 vehicles. • From May 13, 2022, through June 21, 2022, FCA US TSRC met with FCA US engineering and supplier operations to review the issue, understand the part design and the failure mode, and determine the suspect population. • On June 22, 2022, the FCA US TSRC organization recognized a vehicle build issue existed on certain vehicles related to the TPMS sensor battery life, potentially causing a noncompliance with FMVSS 138. • On July 07, 2022, FCA US determined, through the Vehicle Regulations Committee, to conduct a voluntary safety recall of the affected units. Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : FCA US will conduct a voluntary safety recall on all affected parts to
inspect and replace TPMS sensors as needed when installed on a vehicle, and exchange any parts not yet installed on a vehicle. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production :
FCA US has a longstanding policy and practice of reimbursing owners who have incurred the cost of repairing a problem that subsequently becomes the subject of a field action. To ensure consistency, FCA US, as part of the owner letter, will request that customers send the original receipt and/or other adequate proof of payment to the company for confirmation of the expense.
The remedy is to replace the TPMS sensors which may contain a prematurely discharging battery with sensors that meet FMVSS 138 functionality requirements.
