SUBJECT:

B2128-17 – Sensor Supply Voltage – Circuit Voltage Above Threshold And/Or U045A-86 Implausible Data Received From Parking Assist Module – Signal Invalid

OVERVIEW:

This bulletin involves updating the Park Assist Module (PAM) software.

MODELS:

2014 (KL) Jeep Cherokee

NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or before April 13, 2014 (MDH 0413XX) equipped with Parallel & Perp Park Assist W/Stop (sales code XH5) and or ParkSense FT/RR Park Assist W/Stop (sales code XH4) or ParkSense RR Park Assist W/Stop (sales code XH3).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Some customers may comment that when pressing the Parallel and/or Perpendicular Park Assist button when the vehicle is stopped (during stop/start event) it will not illuminate. Additionally the customer may experience a false park assist detection. This is caused by ground reflections, on vehicles equipped with XH3 or XH4. If the customer wish to do a Parallel and/or Perpendicular Park Assist (PPPA) maneuver and they push the PPPA button, then the cluster may display, “Active ParkSense Temporarily Unavailable”. This is an intermittent condition and will only last for one key cycle. On further inspection the technician may find DTC U045A-86 – Implausible Data Received From Parking Assist Module – Signal Invalid and/or a B2128-17 – Sensor Supply Voltage – Circuit Voltage Above Threshold set in the PAM.

DIAGNOSIS:

Using a Scan Tool (wiTECH) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures available in TechCONNECT. If PAM module Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) are present, other than the ones listed above record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin.

If a customer’s VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the repair. For all other customers that describe the symptom/condition listed above or if the technician finds the DTC, perform the Repair Procedure.
