Summary
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain Mopar Central Vision Park Assist Modules (CVPAM) with part numbers: 68606053AA, 68382435AE, 68382435AF, 68606048AA, 68606048AB, 68606048AC, 68382478AI, 68382478AJ, 68606025AA, 68606025AB, 68606025AC, 68606051AA, 68606051AB, 68606051AC, 04672884AF, and 04672884AG. The module software may prevent the rearview image from displaying when the vehicle is placed in reverse. As such, these modules fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, “Rear Visibility.”
Remedy
Dealers will repurchase the Central Vision Park Assist modules. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 3, 2023. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC’s number for this recall is 57A.

REASON FOR THIS SAFETY RECALL
Some of the above CVPAMs may contain software that may prevent the camera signal from passing through to the media screen under certain conditions. If installed in a vehicle, the vehicle operator will notice that the rearview image is not displayed if attempting to reference the image while backing. If this warning is not heeded, backing up without verifying it is safe to do so could lead to an increased risk of injury to people outside the vehicle.
The condition described above does not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 571.111 S6.2.6 requires that “The rear visibility system default to the rearview image being visible and meet the requirements of FMVSS No. 571.111 S6.2.1 (field of view) and S6.2.2 (image size) at the beginning of each backing event, regardless of any modifications to the field of view that the driver had previously selected.” Vehicles with suspect CVPAMs may not display the rearview image during a backing event under certain conditions.
SERVICE ACTION
FCA US will conduct a voluntary safety recall on all affected parts to repurchase suspect CVPAMs. If installed on a vehicle, FCA US will reprogram the CVPAM. The remedy for this condition is not currently available. Dealers will be notified of the launch of this safety recall by way of established communication methods. This recall is estimated to launch in 3rd Quarter of 2023.

All involved vehicle owners known to FCA are being notified of the service requirement by first class mail. They are requested to schedule appointments for this service with their dealers. A generic copy of the owner letter is attached.
Chronology :
- On October 7, 2022, the FCA US LLC (“FCA US”) Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance (“TSRC”) organization was notified of a potential issue related to rearview back up camera sometimes not displaying the rearview image in some 2021-2023 MY Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Grand Cherokee L, 2022- 2023 MY Jeep Wagoneer and Jeep Grand Wagoneer vehicles.
- From October 2022, through June 2023, FCA US TSRC met with FCA US engineering to review the issue, understand the part design and failure mode, and to determine the suspect population.
- On June 21, 2023, the FCA US TSRC organization recognized a vehicle build issue existed on certain vehicles related to the rearview back up camera not displaying the rearview image, potentially causing a noncompliance with FMVSS No.111.
- On August 7, 2023, FCA US determined, through the Vehicle Regulations Committee, to conduct a voluntary safety recall of the affected units.

Grand Wagoneer vehicles. • From October 2022, through June 2023, FCA US TSRC met with FCA US engineering to review the issue, understand the part design and failure mode, and to determine the suspect population. • On June 21, 2023, the FCA US TSRC organization recognized a vehicle build issue existed on certain vehicles related to the rearview back up camera not displaying the rearview image, potentially causing a noncompliance with FMVSS No.111. • On August 7, 2023, FCA US determined, through the Vehicle Regulations Committee, to conduct a voluntary safety recall of the affected units. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : FCA US will conduct a voluntary safety recall on all affected parts to repurchase suspect CVPAMs. FCA US has a longstanding policy and practice of reimbursing owners who have incurred the cost of repairing a problem that subsequently becomes the subject of a field action.
